Rajon rondo reportedly brandished gun during outburst with family

After Rajon Rondo was accused of pulling a gun on his family at their Louisville home on May 11, the mother of his children was given an emergency protective order against the NBA player.

Ashley Bachelor asked Jefferson County Family Court in Kentucky on May 13 for an emergency protective order against Rondo. Documents obtained by the Courier-Journal show that Judge Denise Brown signed off on it the same day.

Bachelor was given temporary custody of her two children with Rondo, and Rondo was told to stay at least 500 feet away. Rondo was also told to give the Jefferson County sheriff any guns he had.

The bachelor told the police that Rondo got “angry and violent,” threatened to kill her, and pulled a gun in front of her and their kids.

Bachelor said in her request for the order that she and her children need “immediate protection” from Rondo and that she wants temporary sole custody of the children.

In her statement, Bachelor said, “I am very worried about my safety and the safety of my children.” “Rajon has a history of being volatile, unpredictable, and explosive.”

Neither Rondo nor his lawyer could be reached right away to give a comment. The Courier-Journal could not find any record of criminal charges being filed about the event.

The bachelor said in a statement that Rondo was playing video games with their son on May 11 when she told the boy to finish sorting his laundry. The statement was included with the request. The Bachelor said that when their son got up from the game to do the task, Rondo “lost it” and “ripped the video game console off the wall.”

Her statement says that Rondo then broke a teacup plate in front of their daughter and knocked over “various items” in the home office and trash cans outside before pulling his car onto a lawn.

The Bachelor said in the statement that Rondo told her she was dead when she asked him “why he was acting this way.” Bachelor said she asked Yvette Gentry, a former police chief, for help because she was afraid of what Rajon might do if a formal report was made.

The statement says that Rondo left after that call, but 15 minutes later he came back and “began beating on the backdoor window with his gun.” The Bachelor said that she told Rondo that he was scaring her, and he told her, “Go get my (expletive) son!”

Bachelor said in the report that she brought their son with her and let Rondo see him through the door. “Before I knew it,” they said, “their son started to open the door.”

The Bachelor said that Rondo grabbed their son, dragged him outside, and slammed the door behind him.

The claim says that Rondo while holding a gun, “started yelling and swearing at their son and asked him why he was scared of them.”

“Eventually, Rondo was yelling and cursing at both children, demanding to know why they were afraid of him, and holding them at gunpoint,” Bachelor said in her statement.

The Bachelor said that Rondo’s parents came to the house, but he “could not be calmed down.” He did, however, let the kids back into the house. Gentry also showed up, according to the bachelor’s statement, and Rondo “stood in front of the door so she couldn’t get in” by getting in her way.

The bachelor said that she put her kids in their rooms and locked the doors and garage. She said that Gentry later “confirmed that Rajon had left and that she now had his gun.”

The Bachelor said that Rondo had “made several threats against my life,” including threats to “shoot me or shoot up my car.” She said that he had hurt their son physically and verbally and that he had hurt their daughter verbally.

Rondo, who is 36 years old, just finished his 16th season in the NBA. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers and, after a trade in January, for the Cleveland Cavaliers. This summer, he will be able to sign with any team he wants.

Mike Bass, a spokesperson for the NBA, told ESPN that the league “is aware of the report and is gathering more information.”

Rondo was picked first in the first round of the NBA draft in 2006. He has played for nine teams and won two NBA championships.
